13 reason why ?
Here in New York , it was both chilly and rainy and being sick of tv (for now ) i thought of what better to do than read a book. .....After finishing reading 13 reason why and i am happy i choose to do so !!! Never have I read a book so fast. It took me all of 4 hours to read this book from front to back. Everyone says never judge a book by its cover , but I tend to disagree. I first was interested in this book because of the the cover, I found the girl sad and I was intrigued ? After looking it up online and reading all the praise it had received, I thought id give it a try. So I ventured off into the library( yes those still exist) It tells the story of a girl ( Hannah) who after her suicide explain to Clay (an old crush) and the recent recipient of said tapes, the 13 reason why she ended her life. In a network of stories that are connected and all fit together like a neat puzzle, this book kept me asking for more and I couldn’t help but wonder who or what the next reason for her death. To keep this book from being overwhelming dark, the author adds Clay who gives his input and helps fill in the gaps within the story. He seems to be a second narrator at times. I kept reading just to find out where this sweet boy fit into her life and how he contributed to her decision to end her life. And how he does will shock you. This books touched on subjects from rape to suicide to self worth, among other issues. 13 reason why never seems to be predictable and makes you think if, words or actions you’ve taken, could make someone feel like Hannah . This is a must read. The only bad thing I would say is I wanted more and didn’t feel satisfied with the ending and where Clay was at.
